I'm not much of a halloween person but my apartment community is having some kind of halloween thing tonight and it doesn't look like I have much better to do so I might go down there and see what is going on. I do think some of the little kids costumes are always funny and I know they are having a costume contest so maybe I'll check that out.

I am now officially in training. Today was my first day of training in the police information center and my trainer got straight to the point. We spent three hours going over commands and how things work and then she put me on the radio to let me see what it was like. It was a little stressful at first trying to keep up and having no clue what I was doing but I slowly began to catch on. There is still plenty that I don't know about the job but at least I was able to sit there and handle the requests that were coming in fairly quickly and began to understand what some of the stuff I was looking at meant. I am glad to be off work and not have to go back until Tuesday morning and I am definately looking forward to church in the morning. It will be good to get a refuel.
Speaking of fuel. I just paid $2.01 for gasoline a few minutes ago! looks like the prices are finally coming down a little bit. Every little bit helps.

Well, I have been a bit slow on the updating here lately. Mostly because I never know what to write on this thing anymore. It's not like my life is that interesting these days. Just going to work and going to church - the same old routine. Anyway, the major news in my life right now is that I am going into dispatch training. That's right after a full year at my job I am finally going to learn to do what I was hired to do. Well, I was hired to do the calltaking thing I am doing now too. The good news is that if I ever make it through this training I will be a dispatcher which to me is a more respectable job and when I get my new title I also get a raise along with it. A real raise, not like that pathetic yearly 1% they just gave us that doesn't even cover the cost of living. Although it doesn't make a huge difference it is a lot more than my original starting pay a year ago was going to be. The bad news is that my schedule is going to be all over the place for about 9 months before finally staying on one shift and if I don't make it through training I'm fired. My only option would be to go back as a temp in call-taking till I could find something else to do. As for now, I think the schedule thing is working out so far. According to the training coordinator I will probably be going to first shift for at least the first stage of training during which I will be in the Police Information Center. I will still have Sundays and Mondays off so that I can still go to church on Sundays.
