It's All About Perspective

I know who I am. I know the person that God has made me to be. Yet all too often I lose perspective. I, like most of the people on this earth, get too caught up in everyday life and what is going on in front of me to understand the big picture. Most of the time I don't even try to understand the big picture. So, I got to thinking about perspective and how much it makes a difference on our lives. What is perspective? Well, most common dictionaries would describe it something like this:

per·spec·tive
n.

1. A view or vista.
2. A mental view or outlook: “It is useful occasionally to look at the past to gain a perspective on the present” (Fabian Linden).
1. The relationship of aspects of a subject to each other and to a whole
2. Subjective evaluation of relative significance; a point of view
3. The ability to perceive things in their actual interrelations or comparative importance

The way we look at things makes a big difference in our lives. I had to remind myself of this today because for too long now I have been looking at things with the wrong perspective and attitude. I have been working and have been rather successful in making a living for the first time in my life. I have been able to have things that I never have been able to have when on my own but I have been focused too much on that and not on what God wants for my life. You see, it's not about looking at things and saying whats important to you but it's about living it. The only perspective I want to have is an eternal perspective.

What does that mean? It means we already know the ending! I already know my final destination when I leave this earth. How much time do we have? Not a lot! We have but mere milliseconds of time left on this earth compared to the time we will spend in eternity with our Father. This is what we too often forget.
